Leah Dodson starts as an assistant professor at the University of Maryland!

Leah Dodson starts as an assistant professor at the University of Maryland!

Leah started her lab in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Maryland this summer. The Dodson group will utilize laser spectroscopy and mass spectrometry to investigate the formation of metal-organic molecules in the interstellar medium and acid-catalyzed isomerization in planetary atmospheres. Congratulations Leah!

Group member Joey Messinger won the Chateaubriand Fellowship for study abroad at the Institute of Physics, University of Rennes, France.

We welcome Ofir Shoshanim to the Okumura group!

Ofir received his PhD in physical chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for his work on ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy, and has worked as a senior researcher in spectral remote sensing in the Environmental Physics Department at the Israel Institute for Biological Research. Here he will continue to work on projects related to remote sensing as well as investigating aerosol chemistry.
Former grad student David Long honored with PECASE

Former grad student David Long honored with PECASE

David Long, who now works at the National Institute of Standards and Technology on projects related to environmental health and greenhouse gas measurements, was of this year's PECASE (Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers) awardees. He was given the award for his measurements on carbonaceous pollutants and trace gases, as well as his commitment to mentoring younger scientists.
